纳米气凝胶保温毡是一种新型绝热保温材料，它主要是由纳米气凝胶制成，这种材料是由胶体粒子或高聚物分子相互聚积构成的一种具有网络结构的纳米多孔性固体材料，这种材料中孔隙的大小在纳米数量级。材料空洞率高达80%～99.8%，孔洞的典型尺寸为1～100nm，而密度可低至3kg/m3，室温导热系数可低至0.012w/(m.k)，保温性能良好，且具有超疏水、寿命长、抗压、易安装维护等特点。
目前，用纳米气凝胶制成的纳米气凝胶保温毡在航空8868体育、船舶、建筑、8868体育源、石油化工、服装、催化剂、电化学等方面都有广阔的应用潜力，和其它保温材料相比，纳米气凝胶保温毡保温性超强，在高温或低温条件下，导热系数是所有已知固体中最小的；耐温性也超强，长期使用温度范围为-80～650℃；防火性能也很好，高温火焰燃烧无任何有毒气体和烟雾排放；超薄超轻性能，易割易折，可现场加工，施工方便，可拆卸，可根据客户的需求定制；疏水性；使用寿命长，可超过20年。
纳米气凝胶保温毡在施工技术方面并没有很高的要求，由于其质轻、容易裁剪、缝制，可以适应各种不同形状的管道、设备保温，且安装所需时间及人力较少，运输成本较低，是目前最好的保温材料。
